Let Your Love Grow, but Let God’s Wisdom Guide It

Love is meant to grow, but God also desires for your love to be guided by wisdom and understanding. Loving deeply does not require you to ignore what is right, overlook what is unhealthy, or say yes to everything simply because you care. As your knowledge of God grows, you can become better equipped to recognize what deserves your attention, what aligns with His ways, and what may need to be released. Jesus demonstrated a love that was compassionate and generous while remaining firmly grounded in wisdom and obedience. As you deepen your personal relationship with God, ask Him to sharpen your discernment so that your decisions are shaped by more than feelings, appearances, or immediate circumstances. There may be several options in front of you that seem acceptable, but spiritual maturity helps you recognize what is best and choose what will honor God. Let your love continue to grow, and allow God’s wisdom to help you recognize what is worthy of your yes.

And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ.

Philippians 1:9–10 NIV
