You Don’t Have to Keep Carrying What Bitterness Leaves Behind

God desires for you to experience freedom from attitudes and emotions that can quietly damage your peace and relationships. Bitterness often begins with something painful that has not been properly addressed, and when it continues to grow, it can influence how you think, speak, and respond to others. Anger itself may alert you that something is wrong, but allowing it to develop into resentment, hostility, or harmful words can lead you further away from the life God is calling you to live. Through Jesus Christ, you have an example of responding to wrongdoing without allowing hatred or revenge to control your heart. As you deepen your personal relationship with God, become willing to examine what you may still be holding against someone and how those feelings are affecting your behavior. Bring those hurts honestly before Him, ask the Holy Spirit to help you respond differently, and make room for healing without ignoring the need for healthy boundaries or accountability. You do not have to let what hurt you determine who you become; with God's help, you can release bitterness and choose a healthier way forward.
“Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander,
along with every form of malice.”
Ephesians 4:31 NIV
