You Were Never Meant to Live Controlled by People’s Opinions
There is freedom in realizing that you do not have to organize your life around keeping everyone pleased with you. Fear of rejection, criticism, disappointing someone, or being misunderstood can quietly influence what you say, what you do, and even what you know you should not do. When another person’s response becomes more important than obeying God, their approval can begin to have too much influence over your decisions. Jesus experienced rejection and criticism, yet He did not allow the opinions of people to determine how He lived or interfere with His obedience to God. As you deepen your personal relationship with God, become more secure in what He says is right instead of constantly measuring yourself by how others respond to you. You can listen to wise counsel without being controlled by approval, treat people with love without compromising your convictions, and make decisions without needing everyone to understand them. People’s opinions were never meant to control your life; trust the Lord enough to follow Him even when everyone does not approve.
Fearing people is a dangerous trap, but trusting the Lord means safety.
